Video Camera Operator

Objective: To assist the Video Team in utilizing the camera, lighting and microphones to frame, follow and capture the visual performance of Sunday’s message, special events and church projects.

Supervisor: Video Manager

Tasks:

  • Learns and maintains the set up, technical settings, smooth operation, storage and care for the equipment

  • Learns and maintains related equipment connections

  • Creatively and artistically utilizes the camera, lighting, and microphones

  • Uses pan, zoom and tilt techniques while using a tripod, monopod or handheld video camera recording

  • Attends pre-service meeting

  • Collaborates with video team

  • Sets-up, tears-down and transports equipment

  • Directs Audio Engineering and Lighting Designer

  • Looks to gain and obtain the best angles, shots and plenty of footage for future editing projects

  • Helps recruit new personnel

  • Aids in welcoming and training new personnel

  • Captures special video events and church ministry footage for future events

  • Attends video team meetings as needed

Expectations:

  • Term: 1 year renewable commitment

  • Time: 1 month scheduled on/off; 6 hours on scheduled Sunday

  • Training: Sunday morning mentorship

  • Enrichment:

    • Actively learns about products and resources to enhance video production

    • Attends other worship facilities and/or concerts for inspiration

    • Uses internet resources like YouTube for creativity

  • Spiritual Growth: Regular worship and growth group participation encouraged

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

  • Age Requirement: 14+ years old

  • Skill Requirements:

    • Stands for extended periods of time and lifts heavy equipment

    • Specialized knowledge of or willing to learn equipment

  • Additional Requirement: Signed confidentiality agreement
